How a camp works

Channels & threads
Conversation that doesn't scroll away
Camps talk in threads, not chat. A question asked in March is still findable in May — with the answer attached. Tags, upvotes and pinned threads keep the good stuff on top.
- Channels per topic, unread counts that mean it
- Polls, rich text, images in any thread
- 1-on-1 messages between members of the same camp
Honest limit: there is no live chat mode — threads only, on purpose. If your group runs on real-time banter, this will feel slower and calmer.
Learning trails
Your curriculum, in order
Trails hold modules, modules hold lessons — reading, video, quizzes and assignments with feedback from you. Progress is visible, XP rewards finishing, and a trail can be free, included, or sold one-time.
Honest limit: video is embedded from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom — there's no native video hosting, so unlisted links are as private as it gets.
Events
The next call, where everyone can see it
One calendar per camp, in the timezone each member reads it in. An event carries its own joining link, repeats on a schedule if it should, and can be limited to a level or to the people on one trail.
- Weekly or fortnightly sessions from one recurring event
- Zoom, Meet or an address — the link lives on the event
- Reminders from two days out to an hour before
Honest limit: there is no video built in — the event holds the link to your Zoom or Meet, and the call happens there. There are no RSVPs yet either, so attendance is something you still count yourself.
Leaderboard
Progress that other people can see
Members earn XP for starting threads, replying, and finishing lessons, quizzes and assignments. You set what each action is worth and what the levels are called, and content can be held back until a level is reached. The members page is the leaderboard.

- Lessons, trails and events can require a level
Honest limit: levels are the whole reward system — there are no badges and no certificates, so there is nothing to hand a member at the end but the level they reached.
Payments & your page
Charge for it without leaving
Connect Stripe once and the camp can be free, a monthly subscription, or a one-time purchase — with trails sellable separately on top. Members pay on your camp’s landing page, which you write yourself and can serve from your own domain.

Honest limit: Stripe emails the receipt and there is no invoice generation, so a member who needs a formal invoice needs it from you. Prices are in US dollars.
Announcements
The one post everyone should see
Mark a thread as an announcement and it is pinned for every member, and emailed to the ones who subscribed — from your camp's own address, with replies landing in your inbox. Send yourself a test first; the email is a snapshot of the post at send time.
- Members opt in from their settings, and opt out from one link in the email
- A preview and a test send before it goes anywhere
- A receipt of who it went to, and a warning if an address bounces
Honest limit: the email reaches the members who asked for it, not everyone in the camp — there is no way to mail the whole roster. There is no scheduling and no open or click tracking either, so what you learn afterwards is who received it, not who read it.
